A woman was fatally struck in Northeast Philadelphia on Monday night. The pedestrian accident occurred around 11 pm when a driver hit the young woman along Roosevelt Boulevard. She succumbed to her fatal injuries at a local hospital. The 22-year-old man driving the car stopped after the woman was fatally struck, and it was discovered that he was an unlicensed driver.

Although traffic laws aim to protect pedestrians when they travel along city streets, drivers may be unaware of the guidelines or oblivious to the presence of pedestrians. Other contributing factors to a pedestrian accident include motorists engaging in distracted driving, speeding, and intoxicated driving. Unfortunately, this means that pedestrians may be at-risk for sustaining personal injuries or even fatalities.
